Brian gave many hockey lessons in his time at Kettler. The ones that he enjoyed and looked forward to the most were the ones that enjoyed being out on the ice the most, as opposed to the ones whose parents pushed them out there grudgingly. One kid in particular always stood out in the stories Brian told from the rink and that was A. Brian loved teaching A. and while some lessons had Brian whining and moping along with the kid, teaching A. was the exact opposite. A. also received lessons from someone else at the rink so Brian cherished the times that he was able to work with him. I know nothing of A.'s hockey abilities, just his love for being on the ice, because that's all Brian talked or cared about. So it was fitting that A. got B. his first knee hockey set for his first birthday!
Uncle M. was one of Brian's closest friends. They knew each other when Uncle M. was coached by Brian's dad and Brian hung around with all the older guys on the ice. After years without contact Brian oddly enough started working with Uncle M. Working together became late nights playing men's league hockey, watching endless Caps games, skipping work for the trade deadline and random events at Kettler, and the list goes on. Uncle M. speaks frequently of his future coaching the boys. So it was also fitting that Uncle M. gave B. his first hockey lesson.
And B. has been loving both - the knee hockey set from A. and lessons with Uncle M.!
